A Date is a youth-focused matchmaking service created for Burmese professionals aged 18–29, built on the belief that meaningful connections go beyond appearances.

I started this service in 2019 during university, with a mission to match people based on personality, values, and shared interests. Today, over 2,000 youths have joined—and 650+ couples found their match through A Date.

How We Started

A Date was born in 2019, while I was still a university student—at a time when dating wasn't even a trend in Myanmar. I saw a gap and an opportunity: many young people wanted meaningful connection, but the typical dating app culture didn’t reflect what we valued.

So I launched a small matchmaking service on facebook. It wasn’t about looks—it was about understanding people: their character, values, love languages, and what truly makes them click. The response? Overwhelming.

More than 300 young people joined, and we successfully matched over 70 couples. My college friends joined the team as I needed help in operation. We prioritized security, trust, and heart-led matching—and together, we built a service where love isn’t judged by appearance, but sparked by compatibility.

Scaling up

Rebranding & Growth

Following our initial traction, I met a visionary business partner who saw great potential in A Date. We officially joined his holding company, which gave us the resources to professionalize operations—building dedicated teams in marketing, client experience, and matchmaking.

With our rebranding, we also upgraded our matching process to focus more on shared values, personality, and deeper compatibility. Security protocols were also strengthened to ensure a safer experience for our users.

Since then, we’ve successfully matched 600+ new couples through our refined approach, proving that meaningful, values-based dating has a place in our modern world.

The Viral Spark Behind Our Rebrand: Date Date Show

When creativity meets timing, magic happens. Date Date Show was a turning point for A Date—proposed and led by our powerhouse Head of Business, Nyima Aye Mya Mya Phoo.

With her bold vision, she brought in a well-known social influencer name Pony as our host, and soon after, more big names like Kris and Makeup Ma Htet joined in. The show quickly went viral, captivating young Burmese audiences and proving that authentic dating content has real power.

Thanks to this momentum, A Date’s rebranding under our new holding company took off seamlessly. This chapter wouldn't have been possible without Nyima and the amazing team who made it all happen.

All gratitude to the ones who believed in the spark. 💖

From Myanmar to Thailand

In 2022, after I moved to Thailand, my business partner and I saw an opportunity to expand A Date beyond borders. With many young Burmese relocating to Thailand after the political crisis, we aimed to bring our value-based matchmaking service to this growing community.

However, due to limited availability on my side and operational constraints within the team, we’ve made the difficult decision to pause our services for now. Still, the impact we’ve made—and the lessons we’ve learned—remain close to our hearts as we look toward future possibilities.

A Date in Numbers 💘

We’re proud of the impact we made during our active years. What started as a university passion project quickly became a trusted matchmaking service for Burmese youth and professionals.
